In order to mark the 25th anniversary of its superb GEL-Lyte III sports shoes, ASICS has teamed up with INVINCIBLE and created the GEL-Lyte III “Formosa” sneaker, which also represents a tribute to ASICS’ links to the island of Taiwan. The name of these unique ASICS shoes was chosen as a reminder of the island’s “Ilha Formosa” nickname, which means “beautiful island.”
Their colorway was inspired by the Accipiter Trivirgatus Formosae (Crested Goshawk) bird, which is why it boasts a grey upper complemented by tones of red, white and blue on the heel tab. These colors also represent a nod to Taiwan’s flag, and they can be observed at length during the Double Tenth Day, which is the National Day of the Republic of China. As far as ASICS sneakers go, these are definitely some of the most eye-catching and well made, which is why they’ll surely become quite popular in Taiwan and in other corners of the world.
