In order to make sure that David Ortiz would be able to retire in style after the 2016 season, New Balance has decided to put together a series of special walk-off collection inspired by cities such as New York, Toronto, Tampa Bay and Baltimore. As for all of you Ortiz fans out there, you’ll be able to get your hands on a series of Made in USA lifestyle sneakers inspired by Papi’s on-field cleats. The Walk-Off Pack was designed as a limited edition, and each shoe is unique and appealing in its own way.
The Baltimore variant boasts crab-themed features and is available in the Sox’s signature red on a grey newspaper-printed body, while the Tampa Bay variant flaunts an all-over grey body inspired by hammerhead sharks. The New York version has a bright yellow NYC taxi cab-themed upper, while the Toronto-inspired cleat impresses with a maple leaf on the heel complemented of an image of the Toronto skyline on the medial side of each shoe.
There’s also a Big Papi’s Final Walk Off cleat available, which comes with a New Balance “Walk Off 34” logo on the right foot, while the left foot is adorned with dates of Ortiz’s walk off home runs.
